At our first lesson, it will very much be getting to know each other so I can learn more about what inspires you, what you like, what you dislike and what you want, and, you can get to know me. Then, we will look at any experience you might have in the instrument already and where we can go from there. After that, I will give you a few records to listen to and exercises to work on before our next lesson based off of where you're at and what you like.
Lessons then continue with a recap from the previous lesson, how we can develop that and will then finish up with exercises to keep our progression going.
I find with younger learners it is very important to learn by ear, in the beginning. I then introduce sight reading after they begin to develop on the instrument. Not only do I think this is useful but i find it can be more engaging for the student... no one wants to be bored after all!
Hope this helps!
