My lessons are interactive and delivered online through Microsoft Teams. During the lessons students will have opportunities to ask questions and engage in activities throughout. This is to help reinforce learning. If I teach groups of students, then the pace will reflect the competency of the group, Nobody is left behind and I always provide extra help if required. The activities provide students with clear steps for what they need to do in order to complete them. After every hour of learning, there is a 10 minute break where students are encouraged to walk and get a drink. At the end of the session there is a fun Kahoot quiz.
After the final session of a course student will receive links to further help resources, the video recordings and dedicated video tutorials covering everything from the session.
Here is a breakdown of the structure: (Presentation used will be through PowerPoint)
Note: Sessions are usually 2 hours in length.
* Any pre-event resources are communicated via email in preparation for the online sessions
* Introductions to introduce the teacher and find out more about the students undertaking the training. Professional questions such as 'have you used this app before and how?' or 'what are you hoping to learn today?'
* Housekeeping to inform best practice online and where students can reach out to seek help during the session
* The agenda for the course or session and the topics being covered
* Delivery of the topics and content
* After around 20-30 minutes depending on the app being taught, students will have the opportunity to either work in groups in breakout rooms on activities or within the main room (this can depend on the number of people in the session)
* Scheduled break for 10 minutes after one hour
* Delivery of the second part of the session and topics covered
* Scheduled activity breakout activities (or depending on the app, these may be more frequent - for example Microsoft Excel training)
* Any further questions or Q & A
* Final Kahoot fun quiz
* Final thoughts or questions
* Links to resources and video tutorials if the final session of the course otherwise close and remind students that the same link is used for next week
* End and wish for a good week!
