For me, the most importance aspects of learning is using whatever we happen to be studying in context. This could be using roleplay, debates or simple conversation. I design tasks that do exactly this to not only reinforce newly-learnt information, but to show you have this can be used in a real-life context.
When we first meet, I'll make a note of your reasons for learning, specific situations you'd like to be able to use the language in and anything else of note. With this, I'll construct a tailor-made syllabus that we'll follow lesson by lesson, giving homework along the way.
Something else I love to do is include humour and cultural elements to keep lessons fun but also provide tips on how to navigate Spanish society, whether it's how to be polite, day-to-day life or busting stereotypes.
When teaching children, I include as many fun activities as possible to keep them engaged and, most importantly, learning. I help young people understand what it is they're learning and why it's useful to them in situations they care about most (from making friends on holiday to buying sweet treats at the heladería).
