I have several teaching methods depending on the students age, the kind of person, rate of assimilation or level. I like to understand my students very well so that I know exactly which method works for him or her. This is because, from my experience, student 'A' may find it difficult to answer questions during the lesson whereas student 'B' will gladly answer the questions. This may not mean that the student A didn't understand the topic. It could be their kind of person. On the other hand, they may even understand it more than those that are answering. Such students like student 'A' will perform better in examinations. While student 'B' may also be good but not so good. Some maybe outspoken while some are not. Some students perform better orally than written and vice versa.
Generally, while the lesson is still on, the teaching method I use is feedback method or question and answer. I also give either take back home work or classwork to evaluate whether or not the concept was well understood. I have experienced that question and answer method helps one to know the rate at which the student understands the lesson and if the behavioral objectives of the lesson was met
