I have tutored 8 students in the past 3 years at different levels from 11+ to A level - they all achieved the good grades in their exams needed to progress forward in the next stages.
Lessons will usually be 1 hour, but can vary depending on the student.
I like to start and finish with an interactive opening and cooldown to engage the student in what we covered in the class - I believe making the lesson as memorable as possible results with better learning
We will often start with learning and revision and then work on questions together, and eventually alone as the student builds their confidence. I will start a lesson with a mini quiz of a couple questions to either recap a previous topic or gain knowledge on the confidence level with a new topic.
I like to hand the reins over to the student once we have learnt a new topic and let them lead through questions or explaining back to me, encouraging them to develop their own learning while still being there to fall back on when they struggle.
At the end of a lesson I will usually ask the student what they want to cover next time so I can prepare in advance and if there were any changes they’d make to the lesson we completed.
I know the different curriculums well since my previous students had to learn from many different exam boards - I keep track of the relevant exam board specimen when teaching a particular topic and can find questions relating to all specific boards and their testing techniques.
I cover all major exam boards including AQA, OCR, Edexcel, Pearson and WJEC!
