As a primary school teacher with an extensive history of private tutoring, I ensure to cater to the particular needs of each individual student. On the first session, I carry out an initial assessment on to learn more about the students academic level and specific needs.
I carry out presentations, use questioning tools, set homework and more in accordance to the students' syllabus aiming to make the content perfectly tailored for the learner to increase the academic performance as well as tracking their progress.
I like to make my sessions as fun and engaging as I possible especially for younger students. I include games and make my sessions as interactive as possible and integrate games, puzzles and short quizzes to make the sessions more fun while also testing knowledge. Providing younger students with rewards such as stickers and additional fun tasks also keeps them more engaged in their learning.
Another key aspect I like to focus on is the students confidence in themselves and in their academic performance. Fostering an encouraging learning environment with builds students up with uplifting language and words of encouragement is key to academic success and has been proven tho increase or maximise their capabilities. Therefore, it is absolutely crucial to encourage, inspire and motivate students.
Setting students homework or independent study is also a crucial factor in their academic success. I found it that students often if not always need to consolidate what they learn with their tutor in their own time to ensure that they do not forget the content. This develops important study skills as well as providing an indication of academic comprehension.
