In November 2018, I have been appointed to teach apprentices maths and ICT functional skills. My duty were involving preparation, delivering the lesson, marking as well as managing behaviours and dealing with learners needs. I taught different levels of Maths and ICT which helped me to adapt my way of teaching and preparation to meet different levels of needs by using different level of activities and different techniques. Since I started work at Kidderminster College as an LSP, I have been supporting maths classes (GCSE and functional skills) helping learners to achieve their targets by using different techniques and strategies to meet individuals or group needs. During this time I had been working closely to learners to assess their learning and to provide help and support when it is needed. Being an LSP has enhanced my knowledge of different teaching methods and has made me more familiar with the College systems (such as BKSB, E-Tracker, VLE, spiral and MST). I have also been attending a few training sessions that helps with dealing with managing different behaviours. Working as a1:1 facilitator has involved me to organise students work, motivate them, help them to build their confidence, feedback on their work these aspects are part of the teaching role. Learners have been receiving this support they have been submitting their work on time which gets them to achieve their target grades for their main course as well as English and maths. In addition, I have supported a learner during lockdown remotely with his main course, English and maths as a result he managed to achieve distinction in his course.
