I generally teach rock and pop guitar but have many young pupils where I teach the fundamentals of music as well as guitar. I always try to centre the lessons to fit the students requirements and try to make the time as informal as possible. However, I do support students through exams either with guitar grades or for school exams. To support this I use formats such as Trinity College or Rockschool graded books and build pupils knowledge of their instrument and general theory as we go. In my time I have had countless pupils pass exams at standard grade, higher and advanced higher with some going on to study music formally and persue music as a career.
