My approach to lessons is the polar opposite of the approach traditional educational institutions take. From experience I realised that the best way to learn is not through text books or writing assignments but rather through understanding the basic structures and rules of said language and then communication, simple "trial, error, correction". I then realised the importance of communication extrapolates into other skills such as writing or public speaking, since we best formulate ideas when there is constant feedback in the form of a discussion. Which is why, my lessons are mostly composed of bettering certain fundamental skills that we all posses, through guided practice. In addition I believe that the most efficient way for a student to learn is to enjoy the process of learning, I very rarely give homework that would put additional academic strain. Instead, most of the assignments I give come in the format of mixing "work with pleasure", such as watching your favourite movie in the language your trying to learn and talking to me about it afterwards or writing about why your favourite sports team is better than the rest and defend that idea when I play the devils advocate.
