I studied English Literature and English Language at undergraduate before reading law as a postgraduate student. I received a first for undergraduate and a distinction for law. I also worked full-time in investment banking while studying law and have extensive experience discussing complex concepts in simple and digestible chunks.
I believe that using practical, real-life examples to explain complex concepts and asking students to explain their understanding is essential. Every student is unique and my teaching style is adapted to meet each students' needs.
Exam technique is critical for studies in law. As such, my teaching styles will varying according to the method of students' assessment. For instance, following the introduction of the SRA's Solicitor Qualifying Exam (SQE), many institutions have incorporated multiple choice question components into their assessments. The skills and knowledge needed for these types of assessments are different to those required to write a research paper on a more substantive area.
