My semester in digital humanities exposed me to different cultures and improved my interpersonal skills when working on team projects and in addition, my voluntary work with local museum projects has increased my resilience and ability to mix with studentd from diverse backgrounds.
My style of teaching would bring together methods of an holistic approach that looks to highlight all the skills of a student to appreciate their ability to examine the situations in an historical context through examination texts, reports and journal articles to answer key questions of history.
In my recent degree course, I led a small research project in generating a theoretical proposal for social issues relating to homelessness in Birmingham to create a smart media tool that will give the public the ability to anonymously report when an individual may be at risk of homelessness or that a sleeper may be in physical danger. I was assigned both a primary project as well as maintenance of an existing project. However, the existing project was getting so many support requests that it made it difficult for me to schedule time for my primary project. Trying to prioritize work during conflict, we were able to work out a schedule that allowed me to respond to both the most urgent and important support tasks as well as completing my primary project. The result was that I received two awards that summer, both for my primary project as well as my quick response to several prominent issues with my support project. We were looking to launch a media campaign. I had a student group of my peers working with me on the research, I decided to split up the research into statistical and case study elements. I took lead of the case studies group, and another group took statistics to note any common trends within the analysis of quantitative metrics.
The group completed initial planning sessions to structure our work, then came back together to combine and roll up the results to our mentors.
