While teaching trumpet I usually teach using a 30 minute theory and 30 minute trumpet method, this way the student can learn both theory and practical skills. I urge students to join many bands such as authority bands and also brass bands, jazz etc.
I also urge my students to complete their graded ABRSM/ Trinity exams.
While teaching SQA music theory I like to listen to what the student struggles with most and work mostly on that but I also like to do some fun games and things such as aural excercises for a bit of fun alongside the SQA exam content.
