I have taught many international students wanting to pass the entrance exams for some of the country's top schools. I have successfully taught students that have passed the entrance exams for the following schools: Wycombe Abbey, Harrow school , Westminster school, Brighton College, Uppingham school and Queen Elizabeth's school to name a few. I have taught international students, at St Mary's school in Ascot as part of the Oxford Royale Academy, to pass entrance exams as part of group classes.
Over the past twenty years I have taken on many roles that involve working with children and young people of differing ages and abilities. These included Teacher, Tutor, Mentor, Sports Coach, Foster Carer and Parent. These experiences have provided me with an excellent understanding of the development of children. This, along with my commitment to children’s education, has advanced me towards becoming an Outstanding Educator.
I have experience of teaching all the year groups in primary and secondary education; this has including the Early Years Foundation Stage. I qualified as an Advanced Early Years Teacher and have gradually worked my way upward. This experience has given me a greater knowledge of children’s learning styles and the transition from each Key Stage. I adapt my teaching to accommodate the year group, making sure the delivery is age and ability appropriate.
I am a qualified teacher and GCSE English and History Examiner. I have experience of teaching students to pass KS1 and KS2 SATs, GCSE English and History and Entrance exams for Grammar and independent schools.
I feel I have a great deal to offer, importantly a great sense of humour that is appropriate to and enjoyed by the children. High expectations of the children I teach and care for and provide a positive role model. I am a hard-working and dedicated teacher, providing teaching that is both creative and imaginative. I enjoy working with children and coach and referee children’s football in my spare time.
I Work in partnership with everyone involved in the children’s learning is vitally important and essential in the development of the children. This includes forming good working relationships with parents. Being a parent myself, I recognize the contribution a parent or carer makes to a child’s learning. It is important that a good home-school relationship is formed and parents or carers feel they can contact me should they wish to.
Delivering high quality teaching that is age and ability appropriate, making full use of assessments, and through secure subject and curriculum knowledge is vital skill in any teacher. These are skills I am constantly enhancing. I keep up to date with initiatives and trends in education and implement them into my teaching. I have attended many educational courses and I always strive to use new methods to extend the children’s learning.
At the centre of all my lessons are the students and their individual educational needs, I take a holistic approach to the students’ learning. I maintain a high standard through teaching achievable learning outcomes that are differentiated to suit the students’ differing abilities. I have high expectations of the students I teach and they know they are capable of exceeding their learning goals. The students and I have a mutual respect for each other, which helps me get the best out of the children/young people in my care.
