I usually start my lessons by asking the students about their background knowledge and building from there. I prepare visual aids as well, seeing that History of Art requires refinement in ways of seeing and analysing. At the end of each lesson, I make it a point to ask what it is the student would like to learn more about, and further objectives for the forthcoming tutoring sessions.
