Hi, I have been in education for 30+ years working with years reception to year 6. For the past 10 years I have been supporting special needs - both in the classroom and as Special Educational Needs Coordinator. I have also been responsible for supporting children who attend and are in local authority care. I am especially concerned that all children have opportunities to achieve their potential and reach their personal goals. I have flexibility and use methods which enable children to make progress. All children are unique and deserve to have their needs met in the best way for them. I enjoy using practical activities as well as promoting the use of technology to support expression and progress. I have a special interest in developing literacy skills in children with difficulties including dyslexia and have done further study to improve my knowledge and understanding gaining a Masters in Education. I also support children with dyscalculia and use methods which can support these children to understand the basic skills needed and to make progress including with life maths skills such as telling the time and money skill. In my role of SENCO I have supported children to get extra professional support and ensure children get assessed for Education, Health and Care Plans to ensure they have the support needed to successful, with either a mainstream education or getting specialist provision if it better suits their needs. I enjoy travelling in my spare time and am learning to sail. I also enjoy spending time with my 4 grandchildren.
