Since September 2022 i have been working as a company tutor, teaching in a range of subjects including Chemistry(up to GCSE), Biology(up to GCSE), English(up to A-Level) and occasionally Maths(up to GCSE). I have taught across many ages ranging from 6-16/17 and through that have improved my communication skills which is essential to guarantee a successful lesson. My lessons usually begin by me asking the students what they’ve done in school and asking them what they’d like to do today. When it comes to younger kids i like to use the CGP workbooks and work through the content, usually begin by giving them mini worksheet to complete in the first 5 mins to see what to work on. I also help them with homework that they might not understand when they feel their school teacher hasn’t explained it well enough for them. When teaching older kids i like to warm them into the lesson by making light conversation and then asking them what they’d like to do and i tailor the lesson according to what their specification is examining them on. I do set homework usually if they’re in year 11 a whole paper where i spend 20 mins of the next lesson reviewing the answers with them and helping with anything they might’ve misunderstood. I do spot testing/ random questions in my lessons to ensure full focused attention. I usually teach in groups but have no issue teaching 1-1. I am currently in university studying nursing and have completed my A levels i took English Chemistry and Biology.
