I am a post primary teacher teaching Visual Art. I also teach global citizenship education and International Studies. Additionally I hold degrees in Fine Art, Sculpture & Media, Community and Rural Development, and in Art Education.
I hold a Masters in Arts and Heritage management and a qualification for teaching students with additional educational needs.
I am currently undertaking PhD research where my study delves into the level of engagement with technology within the Visual Art Classroom.
I have experience in one to one tutoring in Art History one to one and in group situations at both Secondary and at Third level.
I also have experience at Secondary and at Third level in one to one learning support for students with additional needs. Through this experience I have provided assistance to students in all subject areas with structural, formatting, proof reading elements of assignments and coursework tasks.
I am a National Ambassador for the eTwinnng programme in Ireland and regularly engage with European Schoolnet and The European Future Classroom Lab in order to rethink the role of pedagogy, technology and design can have in my work. I have moderated, created and delivered various seminars, workshops and webinars in Education, Fine Art, and Global Citizenship Education. I have won a number of National and European quality and language label awards for my work within various programmes.
I am committed to developing my own practice, promoting creativity in education, creating strong and positive arts ethics and promoting social inclusion. This has taught me to navigate audience values, how to create a culture of respect, and how to still have fun while pushing my students to really apply critical thinking and creative skills.
I have developed strong communication and pedagogical skills through retail management, project management and teaching experience, and hold proficient ICT skills which I feel connect, engage, and sustain my students. It is my goal to combine my range of experience with my ability to be an enthusiastic, intelligent and innovative leader who will make a positive contribution in education to any individual, organisation or institution I am working with.
