Maria Eugenia Harwood

I am a native Spanish speaker with 40 years of experience providing Spanish tuition to students of all ages and abilities. I am also fluent in English after having lived in England for the past 45 years which has allowed me to develop a deep understanding of both the language and British culture, something which I feel greatly enhances my ability to teach.

I have taught for 9 years at Notre Dame High school & Sixth Form as an FLA ( foreign language assistant) assisting with A level oral exams and GCSE - IGCE with excellent passing rates.

I am warm, patient, approachable and able to tailor lessons to an individual’s requirements in order to help them to achieve their language goals. This may be to achieve exam success; to increase conversation skills in preparation for relocation to Spain; to communicate effectively for work or business purposes; or simply to learn Spanish as a hobby.

In accordance with your personal needs and preferences, we can improve your speaking, listening, reading and writing skills, as well as grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation.

I love to develop a good relationship with my students so that they feel comfortable to express themselves freely and to ask any questions they may have.

In the last 3 years I have been teaching children on a one-to-one basis as young as 5 years of age which I believe is a fantastic age to start learning a language. I do this through games, play and songs.
