I usually like a pragmatic approach, grammar based, because I have noticed that more creative approaches through music, videos and movies are not equally successful. In the end you are here to learn a language, not to watch movies! Though it all depends on your target. If you just want to learn Italian for fun I can use books, newspapers, videos etc. If you are a professional I will teach you the terminology of your specific field of interest.
