About me

I grew up in a bilingual household, speaking English with my father and Malayalam with my mother. Because most of my mother's family spoke Malayalam, I grew up translating between languages for them. In my teen years, I taught my younger sister how to read and write in both English and Malayalam. Now, I am a proofreader, copyeditor, and writer, and I adore the English language.

I want to make learning English exciting for my students by bringing the language to them in the same way it is brought to native speakers: through conversation and organic communication. I use visuals, body language, and repetition to ensure my students are following me. I try to make our conversations revolve around the subjects that are interesting to each student, which (hopefully!) increases their motivation to keep learning.

Grammar and rules are important too, which is why I give them reading and writing activities, as well as memory exercises, which we review in our lessons. Learning a language takes time and patience, and everyone makes mistakes. Progress isn't a straight line and that's okay! The most important thing is to have fun and remember why you want to learn English.
