I believe the best way to retain information is through identifying the interests of individuals and using them as examples, from this every time they would think or see their interest the key information will then be more likely remembered. I would use relevant and up to date information on the subject as it is forever changing.

I would use PowerPoint to display imagines to help highlight strengths and weaknesses of topics, along with little written information as would want a discussion from it, however would have key jargon and examples displayed to best visualise themselves using it in practise.
