I have been teaching corporate and conversational English for more than ten years. I find that a conversational style of teaching is most effective as you can build rapport and trust with the learner.
I use Skype with camera to have a more interactive session with the learner and the lessons will have a more relaxed, conversation style instead of a very strict teacher - student relationship. I am comfortable in creating a secure space for the learner to be himself and learn at the same time.
I think that I am a very diverse person with a lot of interests. Aside from teaching, I am also a Communications Workshop Mentor and I also have my own business which is related to vitamins and supplements. I am also now trying my hand at Real Estate. I think when you do something out of the box or something you are totally new at, this helps in increasing your knowledge, confidence and overall persona.
However, teaching will always be in my heart. I love the knowledge exchange and the 'Aha' moments when learners get the topic or the objective of the class. I have experience in teaching learners from all over Europe and different parts of Asia and another thing I love is learning about other cultures. The different traditions, celebrations and sociological framework of different countries never cease to amaze me. At the same time, I am able to share about our own colorful culture and traditions here in the Philippines.
