I ascertain the level of cooking oc my student to find out iv I need to teach some basic cooking knowledge or not. I could teach about a dish I have chosen or a dish of their choice. I do plan different menu per theme or per season. I then explain about the ingredients and a brief history about the dish I then show how to prep the ingredients, how to assembled them and create the dish and finally how to present the dish. I then find out how mh student has enjoyed the lesson and if they feel they can repeat the dish on their own? If not I find out why and if they wish for me to reiterate the lesson another time. I then plan our next lesson and what dish it could be on?
In addition, it is always important for me to also find out what brought them to cooking and why they wish to learn? What is their preferences, strengths, dislikes anc weaknesses in cooking before we start.
I feel that cooking is one thing but teaching passing on my knowledge, is a plus. I am really hoping fof my students to enjoy this journey with me, knowing that efforts Pay a great deal in life. They would be able to enjoy the fruit oc their well deserved work. I do hope their realise that they can reach their potential in a short time if they stay positive and learn at each steps. It is a great experience!
