French:
I take my lead from the student, ensuring that we are filling in the gaps anything they have missed at school. I have worksheets prepared for all levels, and can make tailor-made quizlets for vocabulary they need to learn. However, the biggest thing I aim to achieve in our lessons is to build confidence. So much of learning languages is getting over the anxiety of making mistakes, so much of the lessons will be about speaking and writing with fluency.
English Literature:
I am happy teaching all levels - I have had students from the age of 7 to 18. For exam students, I ensure that we hit the points on the mark scheme in order to get the top grades. Whereas, for younger students, I try to foster a real understanding and love of literature.
I have particular strengths in working with neurodivergent students. This is something I am very happy to discuss with parents.
My qualifications:
I have a first class BA degree in Modern and Medieval Languages and Literature from the University of Cambridge, specialising in French and German. I spent a year of this time studying comparative literature at the Freie Universität in Berlin. I have just graduated from an MA in the History of Art with distinction from the University of London. I have been a French translator for Translators without Borders for two years. I have been tutoring English literature and French for the past two years.
