I like to focus on exam and essay technique: Each session, I would take a different type of exam question, for example, a source analysis, and work through how to answer the question to the highest quality using easy and adaptable techniques. I would also help the student in revision techniques; breaking down historical events into key themes, events, and people, leaving the student fully prepared for every exam question possibility. This may involve creating flash cards together and creating prompt questions to help remember important details and dates. Timelines may also be constructed to help map out a period of time into digestible chunks. History should be fun and enjoyable - something of which I would take into my lesson plans !
