I focus my lessons around the use of both sound and notation - balancing the two main ways people conceive of music. Depending on your incoming knowledge level, I may start with teaching tablature, staff notation, or even guitar chord diagrams. You will gain a great understanding of what I teach by watching my fingers and trying to apply that to your playing, a more practical approach to learning a musical instrument. We will be focusing greatly on basics, foundation elements such as scales, chords, improvisation, etc. However, there will always be room to explore your musical taste on guitar. That's what's so great about the instrument, a pop lover and a rock lover can play their favorite songs on here. I have taught kids with a variety of tastes, and they all find something about the guitar that they can "vibe with", which makes the experience so much more enjoyable for them. I will also adapt the style of the lesson based on your preferred learning/playing methods. If you decide you want to be a musician who reads page to page, I'll tailor the lessons to that style, but if you feel you want to deviate and learn off the page, we can arrange the classes to follow that style too! There's no limit to how you can use the guitar to make wonderful sounds, and my classes are about exploring this universe together. Later in the course of your lessons, I will also introduce accompaniment - the concept of playing with others - and we can take that in a variety of directions according to you as well. Hope to see you soon, thank you!
