I aim to create fun and engaging lessons for my students, using a range of activities to help increase their memory of key information, literacy skills, and analysis skills. Videos, worksheets, and revision are all important to supporting students, in my opinion. If the student isn't receptive to one method, we can adjust the style to suit their needs. I would love to help them develop their own way of revising for their English GCSEs, that is useful and efifcient for them, which they can apply to other subjects. Whatever their goal, I can help consolidate lessons from school, provide useful feedback for practice exam questions, and take time to understand how they want to be supported. For English Language in particular, learning more about the student's interests and hobbies will help me find sources which are relevant to them, to help them tackle more difficult questions in the future. Depending on what the parent/guardian would like, I can set homework, or short review activities for the student to complete in their own time, which we can evaluate and discuss together. If large classes are not the best way for your child to learn, I find one-on-one teaching to help personal progress skyrocket. Furthermore, I believe that close communication between the parent, child, and tutor, is a surefire way to help everyone understand progress as we work together. Session debriefs and summaries for both the parent and student will keep everyone on track and accountable. My studies at The University of Oxford have given me access to exceptional teaching and professional feedback for my linguistic work - my students can expect to see the same level of feedback and support, as I find it so useful myself.
