Throughout my years of learning languages, I found the best approach is seeing each element in a given written or oral situation so that the student can best envisage how to use a new and unfamiliar structure. Rather than learning lists off by heart, it is much more useful to see and use them in practice, which was proved successful in my time as a teacher on my year abroad. Length of a typical lesson would be 1 hour, aiming at students from the ages of 15 to 18.
