Preferably I would tailor lessons to your preferences. However, my basic frame work for a lesson is that:
First, I would explain a concept (or equation or module ect.) to you.
Then we would do some questions on it together with me taking the lead and guiding you through the questions.
Next, you would take the lead and do a few questions, you can ask for help when you need it or I would help you if I see that you are struggling.
Finally, I would let you do questions on your own (without unprompted interference) and I would mark them for you, once you have finished, and talk through any possible mistakes you could have made.
Oftentimes I will use metaphors to help explain concepts or make up acronyms or stories to help you remember formula.
