I am interested in teaching students language through content: literature, music, cinema; the arts more broadly. I will teach through conversation in which we will discuss a variety of topics. Interested in teaching through discussion. Course will be tailored towards the student's needs and desires.
A typical lesson might look like discussing a book, song, or film— all in French— while focusing on specific vocabulary, grammar, verb tense, etc. Homework might then ask a student to explore a different piece of media or to practice writing skills by writing a short, personal reflection. I am also eager to initiate students to French culture and the elements that might spark their personal interest, for instance poetry, politics, or history.
I am eager to teach students who are motivated, enthusiastic, and unafraid of discussion!
For more advanced students, we might consider working together on a more intensive project having to do with any personal interest; in French.
My experience includes studying Comparative Literature in French and English with a focus on literary theory and contemporary French philosophy. Experience includes various jobs as translator.
