I specialise in teaching Maths and Sciences and aim to make you start thinking about the subject in a new, exciting way that I wish I had discovered earlier in school. I focus on showing students how to actually understand topics and be able to figure things out for themselves, rather than spending ages re-reading notes.
We will start by looking through the syllabus and then you can tell me which topics you enjoy or don't and which topics you feel confident with and which you don't. Then we will find a way to make progress in areas you are less comfortable with, which will motivate you and create a positive cycle. My goal is to make Maths and Science exciting rather than stressful as you gain confidence and start to see it as a rewarding mental challenge.
I love past paper questions as they prepare you perfectly for any exam you may be facing, so we will go through some of those in our lessons. At the start we will really take our time with these to ensure we have a good system for answering questions, and then we might start to speed them up to prepare for exam time-pressure.
It can be very useful to go through work that you are doing in school to see their way of teaching and if you have any questions. We will also spend some time going over how to learn and revise content as efficiently as possible, so you can enjoy your precious spare time outside of studying. Depending on your schedule I can set very flexible tasks for you to complete on your own if you'd like to speed up your learning, and I'd love to explore any topics that are part of your subject but not your course that you find interesting.
