I adopt a student-centred approach by first getting to know my learners by asking questions about their interests, hobbies and cultural background. I then adapt and create tailored materials to reflect their passions and ambitions. I use music, literature, online blogs and even video games to link their learning to real-world scenarios so that the learner is totally engaged in the language while being inspired by the wonderfully rich resource of human imagination and technological progress. I involve the learner totally in the process of them gaining knowledge and skills, and garner in them a respect for their own ability to learn. I treat learners as equals because I always come away from lessons having learnt something new from them. In this way my lessons are a two-way process. By using my knowledge of the digital world I have at my fingertips a superb variety of graphics, software and blogs to turn into lesson plans to suit all ages, types of learner and abilities. I use articles and presentations to introduce new language and ensure my lessons are based on real interaction whether oral or written. Short news articles and longer presentations are used to highlight language points that are carefully graded to meet the learners' needs. I am proficient at tutoring in language and also academic and specialised subjects, from beginner to advanced. I also use videos from English-language websites to add variety and depth to my lessons. English is a global language and my lessons have an international, global reach.
