I like my lessons to be dynamic and exciting, whilst catering for individual learners. My lessons consist of a starter task, which usually requires the learners to recap previously covered topics, or to get them ready for the lesson ahead. From there I like to introduce the topic of the lesson, and discuss how it links in with the content covered so far. This is when I will tell an interesting story or fact to 'hook' the learner, and get them interested in to topic. I plan my lessons with the end in mind, meaning that all of the content covered will be used at the end of the lesson, either to complete a paragraph, or answer a question.
During lessons I have developed a range of methods to help the learners. I usually will use a video alongside questions to help break up the lesson, with questioning after the video. I also like to make certain that the lesson ends with a summary of what has been learner, and if it is a GCSE class, an examination of how the topic fits into the exam.
II am able to cater for a variety of different levels and needs within a classroom. I have experience differentiating lessons so that the learner is accessible by all those in the class. I have also taught students with one-page profiles and additional needs, this experience allowed me to gain an insight into how different students are impacted by their needs, and allowed me to become a more thoughtful practitioner.
