I am new to the position of being a tutor, however I believe that my academic background will be able to transition into tutoring and teaching.
Firstly, I believe that my tutoring sessions should be engaging and leave the pupil learning something new everytime. Therefore, I would design my sessions to cover the basic knowledge of a pupil on a certain topic, and then expand their knowledge on the subject by introducing critical thinking or by having the scope for a pupil to learn something new whilst covering the basics.
Secondly, with the wide range of historical topics and eras that I have covered since Secondary Education up until University. Therfore, I believe that my level of knowledge would be capable to meet the demands of any student I teach. I will also be realistic in how much I can teach or rather knowledge I can share, as I would not want to overwhelm the student with unneccessary information.
Furthermore, I believe that I have great interpersonal skills which I have strongly developed over my studies, therefore I can transfer this to one-on-one tutoring. I believe I will be able to identify the student's needs and build a suitable rapport in order to aid the student.
Finally, at the end of the lesson, I would ensure that there is a self-reflection and find out from the student if there is need for improvement or a change of teaching, in order to either help myself or the student for the future.
