It started off with me tutoring my sister at home for her science GCSE’s, with a range of teaching ideas and skills. Starting from the basics, with her minimal knowledge and understanding, I was able to create a foundation of where to start and build up her science skills. Starting with teaching content, to how to retain the content for exams, with effective revision techniques. After the knowledge was understood and information was retained to where she could recall questions i asked, I was then able to teach her ways to explain her points and knowledge in exam based styles, with frequent practice tests and feedback. This allowed her to become more confident each week with her GCSE’s and improve her grades. She started off year 11 with a grade 3/D in foundation science (the lower tier) which isn’t quite a pass grade, she was struggling and asked me for tutoring. Over the course of 4 weeks I was able to get her at a grade 5/C which her teachers were impressed by and decided to put her up for the higher tier of exams, to which when she got her results she was delighted to have found she achieved a grade 7/A in science. All just from 3 months of 8 hours per week of my tutoring. This story shows to you, what I can offer as your tutor, and how I can increase your confidence with exams and understanding of the content, which is noticeable just from a few sessions of tutoring.
