Experience - I have got a degree in Letras from the Oeste Paulista University in Brazil. This course enabled me to teach Portuguese and English.
In addition, I went on a three year-course to fluently speak English and French.
In Brazil, I have taught Portuguese and English for 14 years at private and state schools for all levels and age groups.
Studied PLE - Português língua estrangeira or Portuguese for foreigners.
My lessons - I have a coursebook that I use just as a guide because my lessons are tailored-made. This means that after interviewing the student, I know his or her interests and goals to learn Portuguese. So based on this information, I will be able to start preparing his lessons by using Youtube videos, games, magazines, newspaper articles, music, and culture... all to make the class more interesting within a good dynamic.
I try to work on the 4 skills in each class, enabling the student to improve his learning. At the end of the class, feedback will be given from the student and from me so that we can adapt more the lesson, taking into consideration that each student has a different speed of learning and different background.
Every 3 months we carry out a self-assessment to know the areas that need to be improved. My lessons are 70% student talking, so that he or she, has the opportunity to speak fluently at their own pace.
Brazilian books are suggested in order to help the student improve their vocabulary as well as their speaking skills.
