About me

I generally start my lessons with a few 1-2 mark questions - normally covering a topic we would have been through together previously.
Then we will go through questions from a specific topic together (one they've stated they've struggled with or from previous sessions I've noticed they struggle with). This is generally in the format of a few examples worked through together and then some more in...

Then we will go through questions from a specific topic together (one they've stated they've struggled with or from previous sessions I've noticed they struggle with). This is generally in the format of a few examples worked through together and then some more independent practises.
Towards the end the focus is around exam style questions in the topic covered or in previous topics covered.

My style of teaching ensures that students are continuously revising topics for maximum retainment. I also try to work through ways to help students remember methods to make it easier for them.
I recognise the importance of lessons being engaging and fun so I hope to achieve this through shorter activities where possible.

I also ensure I teach exam technique in every session, whether this be through timing the student for some questions, or teaching about specific ways to lay out their workings.

My lessons are always tailored to each individual student, where this be by adhering to a topic list they've highlighted as needing to work on, or going through past papers from school/homework with them.

I really enjoy tutoring which I hope comes across to my students in every lesson. Most of all I enjoy building a rapport with my students and I feel I create a relaxed space where there is freedom to tell me what they do and don't understand.

Lucy tutored my daughter in maths and I can’t recommend her enough. Communication between Lucy and my daughter was fantastic and my daughter actually really enjoyed the lessons which were well planned and calmly taught. Lucy’s lessons have my daughters knowledge and her confidence a real boost. Highly recommended

I highly recommend considering Lucy as a Math tutor for anyone seeking to improve their mathematical skills and achieve academic success. Both my daughters found Math a challenging subject at school, but with Lucy's knowledge, experience and patience in the subject they have excelled in their Math skills over the last few years. Having the one-on-one weekly sessions, Lucy is able to focus solely on my daughter's individual needs and weaknesses and is able to develop a customised learning plan. Before each session Lucy would send over math material that they would cover together in the session. Lucy has helped to boost both my children's confidence and both children no longer feel overwhelmed or discouraged when faced with difficult problems. This is down to Lucy's encouragement, positive reinforcement and constructive feedback. I have used Lucy both on-site and remotely. Thank you Lucy for providing the guidance, expertise and motivation that both daughters needed.
