Firstly, the lessons will always be based around your own individual goals and needs. Therefore, in our first lesson, I will do a test to assess your current language level and also have a discussion around how you want to learn the language and for what purpose.
After establishing this, I would like to make the lessons as interactive and interesting as possible. I will therefore ensure that there is an element of listening, reading, writing and speaking in each lesson, so that all four competency skills can be used. Normally, I find it best to find a material to base the lesson around. In this case, the material will be either an article, video, extract from a book or podcast, so that you can learn cultural aspects through the language. This is an extremely important part of learning a language, as language and culture go hand in hand and understanding cultural connotations is key to proficiency. I will try to suit the material to your interests and take material from current affairs, so that it is relevant and interesting. I have many resources from University and my teaching experience to do this. After reading, watching or listening to the material, we can discuss it, including the vocabulary, the grammar and the overall meaning. Then we can have a discussion about opinions surrounding the topic.
I will then set some homework for the next lesson.
