Having recently finished a BA Music degree, I would like to offer online music theory tutoring to students of all ages for grades 1-5.

As a double bass player and member of Canterbury Christ Church University Chamber Choir, I have twelve years of performance experience, including several in orchestral, choral and chamber music, performing in concert venues around the UK and abroad, such as St. John's Smith Square and the Temppeliaukio Church in Finland. As a student, musician and informal music leader for student ensembles as President of the Christ Church Students' Union Music Society, I have used music theory in both analysis and arranging throughout my education.

The sessions will be online, via Microsoft Teams, and would benefit both students using theory books to enhance their musical understanding as well as those working towards formally assessed exams. Using the ABRSM 'Music Theory in Practice' books, we will work from an appropriate point in each student's knowledge through exercises, which can help to explain the uses of music theory or prepare for an assessment, such as a Grade 5 Music Theory exam for those beginning Music A-Level. The first session will therefore be to determine the best starting point for the individual and will be focused on what it is the student would like to achieve. The books can be purchased from the ABRSM website, from Amazon, and from some music shops.
