Throughout the several years during which I have experienced the legal field in its entirety, I have come to the realization that teaching through the use of practical on-the-go experience and connecting theory with practice, are the vital elements to a successful understanding of the legal concepts and terminologies, which face legal students from all walks of life. There has always been a tremendous chasm between the world of law in literature and its practical application. While most tutors only view the literature and history of the establishment of law, I have the added benefit of being able to illustrate by way of example, having gained vast knowledge through laboring in the field, so to speak. The benefit of being in control of my own legal practice, is that I am able to provide students with a 'bird's eye view' of the legal environment and the implications of legal principles, the rule of law and the need for a sound justice system, to guide an orderly society.
Regard for the law, its elements and the reason behind each single piece of legislation are fundamentals in my teaching. Often, students understand the 'what' but an understanding of the 'why' behind legislation, leads to a student being able to grasp and apply a legal concept, irrespective of the scenario wherein its application is presented.
