I tailor all lesson plans according to the skill level of my students. The lesson will be one-on-one, and I will focus on improving one skill per lesson, more depending on how fast the student improves. I teach children to young teenagers English as their first language and slightly older teens to adults as a second language. For a first lesson, I would have the student take a test to observe their skill level in the English language. After each lesson, I'd give them a task to do for the next lesson that will consolidate the lesson and could help with the next lesson. If I believe the student has improved to a satisfactory degree, I will assign a book to read that I believe could improve their language comprehension. None of the assigned tasks are mandatory, but I would recommend the student to complete the task if they are serious about improving their skills. If you plan to take my lessons, you will obviously have to give me an honest answer of your educational level so far so I don't give a child an adult's test and lesson and vice versa. I do not live in the UK, there was no other option.
