I'm a tutor who believes in listening and acting on students needs.

In my experience I have taught classes and individuals of different levels, from scratch to proficiency and IELTS exams preparations. As I read both English and Portuguese at University, I am prepared to teach both through exposure to authentic materials and a special focus on the developed competence in the four language skills (listening, speaking, reading and writing) and pronunciation.

The material will range from songs and films or TV series snippets to practical vocabulary and grammar exercises, so that students will speak confidently and efficiently.
When it comes to English, I have taught the language for nearly 30 years, always with an eye on modern teaching techniques and academic advice. As a London resident, my pronunciation and dialect is more closely related to British English. However, should the need arise, I am able to expose learners to American varieties in a fun and efficient way, always showing that as an international language, what really matter is speaking well, regardless of accent or variety.

As for Portuguese, as a native speaker with higher education standards, I am able to assist those who need to learn either Brazilian or European varieties of the language.

Summing up, I love teaching and tutoring. I consider it a privilege to have such a direct contact with learners in a way we can develop rapport and trust. The word the best define my tutoring attitude is tailor-made teaching. You will see that language is not only about words, sounds and techniques, it is all about culture and involvement.
