Hi!
My name is Lucas and I'm a 3rd Year Computer Science student at the University of Warwick. I currently live in Manchester, as I'm in my Industrial Placement year, working for Sellafield Ltd, a nuclear fuel reprocessing company. Originally I'm half German-half French and grew up in Berlin, Germany before moving to the UK.
I attended an International School, meaning I was taught in English, and graduated with the International Baccalaureate with 41 points (equivalent to A* A* A in A levels). I'm passionate about mathematics, computing and programming, although I have a general interest for all sciences. Other passions I have include learning about cultures and travelling. I'm fluent in four languages, those being
English (from school)German (native speaker)French (native speaker)Spanish (from 6 years of lessons in school and spending 9 months travelling in Latin America during my gap year)
I love tutoring as its something I've had good experiences with, having previously tutored high-schoolers in Berlin after I finished school. Oftentimes I find it also helps me learn and remember a subject better. In terms of my tutoring style, I believe repeating questions and topics from lesson to lesson is effective. That means, go over a topic with the student and make sure they understand the how's and why's well first. Then, quiz them on it, so the information is retained in their memory. Finally in the next lesson I would take 5 minutes to quiz on the previous lessons topic.
