I have been teaching high school students, university students and young adults and because of the variety of my students I have abandoned the idea of a pre-structured strict method in favour of tailored one. I have been teaching European culture with a particular focus on literature and philosophy. I usually adapt my knowledges to the need of my students, whether it is language, literature, philosophy, history etc. Depending on the interest of the student, the methodology and content of the lesson obviously change, but I know what to do and which books to refer to. As a general rule, I tend to be strict because that is the most effective way to success, but I never step over the line of my students' wishes and capacities. With my students, we usually work with some background piano music to promote concentration and strengthen the link between what we study and beauty, which should always be beared in mind. When it comes to memorisation (one of the major problems, right?), I teach my students some memory techniques to make the game more fun and the work much more effective. There are many memory techniques depending on the type of information to be memorised. I am also flexible in regard to lesson length: usually 1.5 hours works best to achieve a good work flow, but some students prefer a 1 hour spot, which is perfectly fine as well. The same applies to lesson frequency: for example, if my student has an important exam to prepare and wants to increase the frequency of the lessons, or decrease it after the exam, I am happy to meet your needs.
