MEd, PGCE, BA (Hons) and CELTA qualified, I have been teaching (AQA, Edexcel, OCR, IELTS, FCE, PET, KET), tutoring (same boards), assessing (BTEC, City and Guilds), examining (AQA and OCR) and moderating (AQA) since 1994 and I have enjoyed a number of different roles and challenges around the UK, Europe and Middle-East.
My lessons are meticulously prepared and move with pupils' needs and adapt to changes in direction. I facilitate pupils' knowledge using student-centred learning and I also enable pupils to develop critical analysis skills in order to access top marks.
I love enabling knowledge and skills development, be it in Business or English as a foreign/additional language. The reward of being part of excellent progress in young people's development is a big motivator for me.
I'm friendly and supportive, always encouraging and understanding. I'm a facilitator and encourage student-centred learning whilst ensuring excellent progress.
Learners learn with excellent teaching and delivery, with teachers needing to get to know what makes their pupils tick in order to develop resources and activities to catch their attention and motivation. Pupils 'learn by doing' and this is a major feature in my lessons.
I am investigative and enquiring in my delivery of content whilst also providing a warm and supportive learning environment. The love of my subjects imbues pupils with enthusiasm and a thirst for learning. I give pupils confidence in their own abilities and that goes a long way to ensure their success.
My pupils have always achieved the examination results (be it 11+, GCSE, GNVQ, BTEC, A Level, IELTS, FCE, PET, KET) they were striving for and their journey to that point has been enriched and extended by my thorough and enquiring lessons.
From a young age I always wanted to become a teacher so my ambition was realised in 1994 when I achieved my PGCE. The excellent teachers who were instrumental in my enjoyable primary and secondary education are still an inspiration to me. This wish to inspire young people and learners took me into the teaching profession (I wanted to give back that thirst for learning my teachers so ably gave me) and that motivation is still with me today.
