My lessons are aimed at allowing the student to use real world situations and have conversations they are likely to engage in everyday. I will have a list of topics available for selection at the start, depending on the age and ability level of the student. Once this has been chosen, the student is prompted to answer and discuss questions I have on the topic in a way that two friends might chat to each other.
After the initial conversation, feedback is given and practiced using more real examples, where the student can test themselves and ask questions on parts of the language they may have misunderstood.
The second half of the session is more focussed on building the confidence of the student and allowing them to talk about topics of their own choice. In doing this, the lessons learnt in the first half of the session are more easily implemented when the student feels comfortable and well versed in what they want to be saying.
The lessons should feel like a catch up between friends (but can be tailored to a more professional setup if needed).
In the past, I have taught to large classes of people of mixed ages and I loved seeing their confidence and ability grow over the month I was with them.
