I have taught primary school children literacy and Maths for a year at my old primary school through my secondary school's partnership programme. I have experience with young children and can get them to work. I have also completed an additional optional 10 credit module at University titled 'Peer Mentoring'. This entailed tutoring students in years younger than me at university on my course. I therefore have experience of tutoring all ages. I believe in first letting the student see someone else do the problem and then from there its all about practice, practice and more practice. I know what needs to be done to get students high marks at GCSE and below.
My degree is obviously very Maths and physics orientated and so I am particularly strong in those subjects and over my 15 years in education I have learnt how to revise it effectively and achieve highly.
The format I like to use is to show the student an example, then clear up any confusions. I will then get the student to practice the question themself and then from there when they get the hang of it it is all about practice, practice and more practice to really nail it. This does, unfortunately for the student, mean setting homework and tests.
Getting my student to understand what I have taught them brings me great fulfillment and pleasure so I take pride in my lessons and will always deliver a lesson that is worth the financial and time investment.
