Having studied three essay-based subjects at A-Level (English Literature, English Language and Music) I have become so passionate about discussion and carefully crafting your own interpretation and analysis in the learning environment, especially when it comes to studying English- this is about developing your own original ideas! We will have lots of conversation, edit your essays together and practise writing skills- I will tailor each lesson according to what you feel you need the most support with and I want to help build up your confidence so that you can smash your exams! Together we will be looking through exemplar essays, studying the mark scheme so that we know exactly what the examiners are looking for and collaborating on model paragraphs so that you will have plenty of recourses to refer to outside of our sessions. I will always make an effort to emphasise your own creativity and ideas in a way you may not receive in a school environment and this personal focus is something I’ve always sought to create in both my piano and English lessons in the past. Due to this extensive teaching experience, I’m well versed in what goes into carefully planning a lesson so that it suits the individual student and I’ve watched my students flourish over the years, becoming accomplished pianists and amazing English speakers! I really hope that my lessons will provide useful tools and reference points in addition to your studies and together we can explore ideas and overcome any possible hurdles!
