My main objective is to interest my pupils and engage them in the subject, making the past come alive and equip pupils with the tools to explore and develop their knowledge and skills. This is always my starting point. I listen to what a pupil wants to get out of the sessions and how they learn and we work out a schedule together of what the lessons will be about and how they will be taught. I like the pupils to be fully involved in the process and the lessons and continually seek feedback to tailor the tuition to meet pupil needs.
I have wide experience of history teaching including extensive experience at A level. I have also tutored English to GCSE.
The content of the lesson is decided by the pupil’s syllabus and I will adapt and tailor the content accordingly to learning styles and needs.
Pupils learn best when they enjoy and are stimulated by the lessons and I do not see online tuition as a barrier to this in any way.
I am keen to engage pupils with source material and help them to analyse and make sense of the past. I have extensive experience in teaching pupils how to use the sources and their historical knowledge to produce cogent and incisive essays and extended writing.
History teaching and tutoring equips pupils not just for the exam but for life!
