Having been a secretary for over twenty years in various sectors (including Financial, Retail and Education), I have extensive knowledge of Business English, and can help learners acquire the vocabulary and experience of UK business culture necessary to succeed.
I have a BA (Hons) in Music, and an MA (res) in Musicology, both from Bangor University in North Wales. I consequently have extensive experience of academic writing, and can help to prepare students for entrance exams, and teach the terminology and grammar needed for both writing proposals and theses.
I have a Trinity CertTESOL qualification and have experience of teaching classes in person and online. I use zoom or skype for lessons, and create engaging lesson materials with PowerPoint. Expect there to always be an element of fun to lessons, as I am a great believer that learners naturally learn more and retain more when they have enjoyed the lesson. As well as elements of the key skills (reading, listening and writing), a major component of my lessons is speaking. I like to get my students talking as much as possible!
I feel lucky as I have been able to combine my three passions in life as a tutor: as well as English, I am a qualified music tutor, and a qualified yoga instructor. I live by the sea on the beautiful island of Anglesey, in North Wales, in the UK. I spend my time (when I'm not teaching!) performing music for people with dementia, walking on the beaches or in the mountains and spending time with my family and dogs.
I'm looking forward to meeting you, and hopefully joining you on your exciting journey to learn English!
Thanks!
Lisa :)
